We caught up with Karin, the sale’s organiser, to see how things went during the last sale:

How was the turnout for the last sale?
Fantastic! We had so many shoppers on Saturday morning that we had to make some people wait to get in. At the upcoming sale, we will use both the big hall and the youth club in the back of the building. So we’ll have more room for goods and shoppers!

What percent of items that were on sale actually were sold?
It is difficult to give a percentage. I can tell you that most of the toys, equipment and books sold. We have mostly clothes remaining at the end—and this is because of the huge quantity we start with!

How many volunteers helped at the last sale?
We had about 55 volunteers. They were amazing! The sale would be impossible without their help. Many of the volunteers have helped out at every sale!

Will this sale be even bigger?
It seems to grow with each sale. I am excited about having more space for the next sale. It should make the experience better for everyone.

How many Stavanger Kids sales have there been?
This will be number 5. The first sale was held in January 2009.

What has changed over the years?
I try to learn from each sale and make improvements where I can. I have added more clothes stands and hangers, and big tubs for organizing the items. I have also added more helpers on Saturday morning when we are at our busiest. Having more cashiers on Saturday morning speeds people along. At the last sale I started using a bank card terminal to make purchasing more convenient for shoppers.

Tip
If you’re afraid of the crowds, come on Sunday morning! It is usually quiet and is a great time to look through all the great buys.

Thank you Karin, for your time! All the best with the Spring Sale!!
