Where are you from?
I’m from Northern Minnesota. I moved around quite a bit growing up so I don’t claim one city but Bemidji Minnesota is sort of a base.
What brought you to Stavanger/Norway?
My boyfriend Yrjan is from Nord-Trondelag. We both went to the University of North Dakota for college and worked for the same television station as photographers.
What do you think of this country so far?
I lived in Oslo for almost a year before moving to Stavanger in January so I had the chance to attempt to settle into the Norwegian culture there. Though, I must admit it’s difficult and I have had my fair share of culture shock. I’m not a fan all the rain and grey skies but it seems the people here in Stavanger are much nicer than Oslo.
There is beauty everywhere here which is awesome for photography!I love that! I really enjoy seeing all the fashion and style in Norway and Europe.
Can you tell us more about your photography?
Coming from a newspaper background my style has a journalistic feel. I think of my style as ‘Lifestyle portraiture’ because I like to capture people in ‘real life.’ I’m a ‘natural light and on-location photographer.’ I believe the best photo is of you being yourself! The real you, the real smile, the real tear.
I’m finding my style is a bit different than the traditional Norwegian photographers. I have a feeling this is a great thing because I can offer Norwegians something new and fresh!
I’ve also been dipping my feet into the editorial fashion scene. I’m currently looking for models to do test shoots here in Norway.
What got you interested in photography?
Photography is my passion and my way of life. I studied it in college and started working for a small-town newspaper, from there I couldn’t stop thinking about photography and knew it was what I wanted to do.
I’ve spent time working for multiple studios, and a huge hockey arena shooting sports and concerts but eventually started doing my own portraits, weddings, families. I love the freedom of being able to use my creativity and style during a shoot.
What have you been involved in since coming to Stavanger?
Since coming to Stavanger I have been fortunate to meet some awesome people in just two months! I’ve been working with some creative photographers and helped Brigitte Jameson a bit with the La Frenchy Festivale. We worked on a photo shoot at Tou Scene and one of my favorite photos was published in the Stavanger Aftenblad! Pretty cool and exciting!
I am also working on an upcoming children’s fashion photo shoot with Petra of Tijn & Lieve! So keep an eye out for that!
That’s exciting! How can people contact you and learn more?
Please check out my website and follow my recent work on my blog.
Of course you can always call (48 24 29 98) or email me!
I’m looking forward to meeting even more awesome people in Stavanger! So, give me a holler. ![]()
