- Say ‘no thanks’ to advertisements in the mail. Get your “Uaddressert reklame. Nei takk” sticker from the post office and put it on your mailbox.
- Buy quality products, which last and which can be repaired.
- Avoid products with a lot of packaging or leave unwanted packaging in the shop.
- Do not buy things you do not need.
- Avoid one-time use products.
- Recycle cans and bottles.
- Give away your time and experiences as presents, instead of things.
- Use refill packages.
- Reduce the quantity of cleaning agents used.
- Use your imagination and make good food from leftovers.
- Sell or give away the things you do not need.
- Use a recyclable bag when you grocery-shop instead of plastic bags.
- Leave cut grass on your lawn/backyard as fertilizer for the growing grass.
- Participate in ‘item exchange’ events. (Or start your own)
- Use microfibre cloths when cleaning.

Cynthia is a Singaporean who has been living in Stavanger since Feb 2008 with her Norwegian husband. She works as a physiotherapist here and also owns her own petsitting service, Stavanger Petsitter, for the residents of Stavanger. In addition, she manages the Stavanger International Moms group.
